Winter is Coming. Summer is almost over and with it my time in the Year 2 Summer Cohort. I connected with new educators, had a few great profs and learned a lot along the way. Here’s a collection of what I did, often with the help of my incredible Four Corners group members; Joie, Erin and Ashley.
CEP 800: Learning in School and Other Settings
This project focused on writing a grant to transform learning in my classroom. This open-ended “paper” challenged me to explore what change I wanted to see first, then identify the tools and process that would allow me to make that change.
3x3x3 Chapter 5
3x3x3 Chapter 7
This was a refreshing use of the jigsaw strategy for reading, and subsequently summarizing, a chapter from our book. We had 3 minutes to share 3 big ideas and 3 practical implications of what we read.
CEP 815: Technology and Leadership
A paper with my reflection from the course, and how I see myself using what I learned in the future.
This was an amazing project. We were given a prominent topic in ed-tech and had to host an hour-ish long webinar with a group of experts. Our webinar revolved around digital citizenship and keeping students safe online.
CEP 822: Approaches to Educational Research
Understanding Understanding Research Project
This project offered us an opportunity to elicit what people understand about a topic and how they came to understand it that way. Since we were located on a college campus, we figured caffeine would be a great topic.

Ungraded Work
Our goal was to create an atypical photo that represented us. I found a globe, turned it to my side of the world, and snapped.
This practical activity had us identify behaviorist practices that modern ed-tech websites or software use in their product. This was a real eye-opener for me.
This fun assignment had us create a video to demonstrate a physics concept – one that we thought we knew but actually didn’t.
We were challenged to present information that either confronts a preconception and makes it challenging and complex. I worked with a math teacher for this – something I really enjoyed!
Demotivation Poster
I promised the director of my program I wouldn’t show anyone the demotivational poster I made of her. Sorry.
This might have been my favorite activity. Creating photographs that ellicit curiosity is something I strongly believe more teachers should be doing.
As an ed-tech leader, how do you deal with the tensions of being pulled so many ways?
